MAC - The user data folder could not be found. Please reinstall OOTP Baseball 8.
Okay, so I know what the cause of my problem is, but not how to fix it. When I initially installed OOTP on my Mac, I was incredibly low on hard drive space, so I moved my data folder to a networked drive. Unfortunately, I couldn't get it to read, so I did something frustrating to resolve the problem, involving as I recall a shortcut that redirected to something and bounced where it was going. It was a pain to do, and didn't work particularly well.
So, I've cleared a bunch of hard drive space out, and apparently undid whatever it was that I did to make it work off a network drive. And now whenever I try to load it, I get "The user data folder could not be found. Please reinstall OOTP Baseball 8." Which I've done several times, and anyone familiar with the Mac installer will know that it's a "start install, order pizza, pick pizza up, eat pizza, play game" sort of deal. But all that happens when I hit the OK button is it closes the program, without letting me rectify the situation or even see where the data file is supposed to be. Which is most frustrating. |

Er, right. You can't open up the game at all without it giving you the error message? If you can get into the opening screen, you can select Game Preferences and insert the Custom User Data Path.

Yeah, my only option is to hit "OK," which shuts the program down. I even deleted the thing, restarted, and reinstalled. Clearly the information on the data path is kept somewhere else, but I don't know where that is.

There should be a file "paths" in the folder <username>/Library/Preferences/OOTP Dev./OOTP8/data
This file should contain the path to the user data folder: path_user_data MAC HD:some folder:data
