Crash on Close - every time.

Title says it all. OOTP crashes on close each time I exit the game. It does this while saving and I think might have contributed to a corrupt database or three.

My work out, of course, is to save the game manually and ctrl-alt-del then kill the game, but I would rather not have to do that all the time.

I searched and there was around six hundred and twelve million different threads with "close" and "crash", but none of them seemed to address this problem.

I've tried uninstalling, defragging, reinstalling, etc.

TIA!

Which version are you using, please? Does this happen in just one saved game, some of them, or all of them you play?

Ah, of course. Most recent version, Win XP Sp2. 2G Memory 3Ghz. Any game. Old new or anything in between.

Was also happening with my 2nd license on my laptop - that's Vista.

Most recent version of which game? OOTP 2007 or OOTP 8?

Are you seeing any data corruption as a result of these crashes? (If you don't alt-ctrl-del out)

Have you tried disabling FaceGen to see if the problem goes away?

v8. Yes, there is some corruption. Sometimes I lose logos, sometimes faces. Once it crashed and I lost minor league affiliations. Then the database will get real choppy and it will take forever to load... like it will hang at 100% and, if I leave it on, 20 mins later it will finally go to the manager's screen. Then occasionally it will crash when I hit a random button (scouts task list; real stats; ratings; and so on).

That league is broken right now. It goes to 94% and then gives an "error must close" screen.

But it has happened in more than just one league.

Will OOTP still crash upon closing if you turn FaceGen off?
