crash on startup after installation (mac os x tiger)

i recently purchased ootp8. after downloading and installing, i tried to start the game up, but couldn't get any farther than the title screen (with the small stopwatch) before the game crashed.

i did a quick forum search, and i found someone with a similar problem that no-one actually helped - i hope some progress has been made since then.

i have a macbook intel core duo, and i am running mac os x tiger 10.4.11. i assume because i just bought the game, it is patched.

please help me with this issue. thank you for your time.

Have you tried deleting/uninstalling and redownloading/reinstalling the game files? Every once in a while, the files merely become damaged during transfer.

i have re-installed from the same download. that did not work.

i will try to re-download, but i don't hold out much hope for that doing the trick.

i got mac os x leopard from a friend, and that did the trick.

i guess a new version of the game is coming out, but you may want to check its compatibility with mac os x tiger 10.4.11, because the forum search reveals several other people with the exact problem i had that no one ever helped.

For anyone else who is having trouble, you might want to disable FaceGen or try using different FaceGen settings. For those on Intel Macs, you will want to use the files at the following link:
