Import leagues from 6.5

I am in two 6.5 leagues. I need to import those leagues into version 8. Gives me that only can import if leagues are opening day is that only time to import leagues that I am in currently in season?

Yes. Your 6.5 league needs to be on opening day in order to be converted.

But I may later. One league in 6.5 is off season. Open day around corner.
So if I have the league file already in my OOTP 6.5 file I can just convert those files to OOTP 8 correct?
So when commish has league settings on Opening Day I then can convert that league to 8 correct?
