OOTP 8 and 9 crash when creating picture

This is the error I get whenever I run the game (Version 8 or 9) with facegen on. It freezes every time a face needs to be created. I am running Windows Vista Business SP1 (all with latest updates) and an Nvidia GS7900 video card (also with latest driver update).

In an error box titled Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library ther error says, "Runtime Error! ...See application support for help."

Can anyone help? I can run the game with facegen disabled but that takes out half the fun.

I had an issue with Face Gen not working. It was due to my color resolution got reset back to 16 bit during computer shutdown from power outage.

Your issue sounds different, but still something to check. make sure your color resolution is set to 32 bit.

The other thing is, did it used to work on your existing computer?

If so, then check all your related settings with video display adapter.

EDIT: I see you say you have the most up to date driver. Sorry.

You should also check to see if you have the most up to date driver for your video card. Sometimes this can be done through microsoft update but other times you need to go to the manufactuers site and find the driver.

Dead Guy,

Try this:

1. Back up your league

2. Delete the faces.dat from your data directory

3. Restart the game and give it a try.

I believe this may result in people getting new faces, but it may resolve this crash. At any rate, this is why I urge you to back up your league before you try it!
