Also, why do they get assigned to DFA when you have 3 levels of minors? Normally after a draft the drafted players are assigned to the lowest level of the minors automatically. (maybe the game doesn't see this auto assigning of rookies as a draft). Finally, you mention rookies are assigned in Feb. Why? Did you set it up for that month? Sorry for all the ?s. I know nothing about historical leagues...just trying to reproduce this.

Yes you disable the draft in the league setup. Game setup> league setup> rules. It tells you to do this if you want rookies assigned to their original team. And yes I agree they should not go to DFA but to the minors. Maybe that is why the are rule 5 eligible. Some versions back, that is what happened. But in OOTP 2007 they went to DFA and could be put in the minors without being Rule 5......well now that I think about it Rule 5 was so broken I haven't used it since 6.5. The first day of preseason (in Feb) is when the game goes to the Lahman DB and creates the new rookies.

I set up another season the same way except I had recalc turned off and the same thing happens. I really want to use the Rule 5 but will keep it turned off until the problem is found.

this is marked as fixed for the next patch...not sure if I'll get a chance to test it before release though

As this is claimed fixed, we will now close out this thread. If you find this to still be a problem after installing the upcoming patch, please post a link to this thread in Tech Support and we will get the report opened back up. Thanks!

Rule 5 Still Doesn't Work
Same error as before. All imported rookies are immediately Rule 5 eligible in a historical league. Started a new league with the latest patch but it still is not working right.

I downloded the latest patch and then created a new league because I saw where Markus had said earlier that the fix worked only on newly created leagues.
Edit: OK, I just went back to that league and turned the Rule 5 Draft back on. I finished out the year and when it imported the rookies for the next year when I moved them from the DFA area to the minors they all became Rule 5 eligible. I also check a couple of AI team and the ones that were not put on the 40 Man roster were Rule 5 eligible as well. Looks to me like the imported rookies should go on a minor league roster instead of the DFA box anyway. And yes I am running the latest patch. Last edited by rwd59; 07-29-2008 at 10:58 PM. |

Same problem for me, I'm playing with a league created with the latest version. The problem really seems to be with the way the rookie import works (place on the DFA list). I've switch the rule 5 draft off in my league since it's really annoying and not realistic.

Send my league. The name is AESP_pres_RD5(2try).zip, I have already an old file with my username on the server and I can't replace the previous one using the same name.
Note : The draft is turn off in it since it doesn't work after the first year, but if you turn it on you will notice that all the rookie imported in january are illegible for the draft and must be protected. It was the case when I try it with a test league after the patch and this one is certainly not different. Last edited by AESP_pres; 07-30-2008 at 08:53 PM. Reason: previous file incomplete. conection problem when uploading. |

Markus first reported the following: "It depends heavily on the players age when he gets imported... the game needs to assume professional time for some (minors), especially 22+ year old ones. And if this is more than 3 years, the players are rule 5 draft eligible. This is by design."
He then claimed it fixed. Not exactly sure what was done if anything, but I'm going to assume that however he has it set now is how he wants it. Edit: I found this comment in another report that I assumed was meant for this one: "Found a bug after all, fixed it Still, the age does apply here, so not all are protected..."
