Players in Limbo?

I'm not too sure if this is just some sort of strange phenomenon. I imported a league, saved it as a template, and started a new fictional league. I disabled the inaugural draft so the teams would start fairly evenly as far as payroll and talent was concerned. However, it seemed like the league was a bit more devoid of talent then I originally expected. There weren't really any decent players on the free agency list. When I looked at Show All Players, here's what I found (picture below)...

There's some really good players there no where to be found. They're not listed on a team, they're not in the free agent pool, they're not retired, they're just there.

I'm pretty sure this problem is caused by importing a league that was intended to have an inaugural draft, saving it a s a template, and not doing an inaugural draft. It looks like the inaugural draft players are just put into limbo, and the generated players for the teams are used. Although if this is true, then not holding an inaugural draft results in some really crappy players.

Can you interact with these players who have no team? Offer them contracts from within the Player Profile and the like?

Also, could you try making a copy of this league and quickly simming an entire year to see if the players in question show up in the next amateur draft or in the FA pool next season?
