I need a serial # in order to get a serial #

Just downloaded OOTP 9, which I paid for in May. I clicked on "Enter a License Key" to get my serial number and the message says "enter the serial number". I tried entering my license key, but no. This is not a good way to start my OOTP9 experience.

Your license key was in the e-mail you got after purchasing the game. It starts with VT-and then a series of letters and numbers.

the license key

Yes, I know. I entered the license key. It's looking for the serial #, which of course I don't have because I need to enter the license key.

You don't get a serial number when you enter your license key, the license is logged into the server and the game will open. The only numbers/letters you get is the license key. So I don't know what it could be other than the incorrect license key being entered.

about the license key...

I get an error message that says "incorrect serial number,", and I remain an unpaid, unregistered user. No one else is having this problem?

I thought so. Since most people probably get the PC version the guys were thinking about elicense's stuff when Macs use esellerate or something. I'd suggest either waiting until a Mac guy reads this thread and tries to help or start a new thread and include Mac in the title. Good luck!

You need to contact the license provider. For non-Mac computers it is ViaTech or elicense. Sorry I don't know what they are called for Macs but it should be on the Email receipt.

Also, are you connected to the internet? I believe you need to for the first use of the program ie to activate the license.

Thanks, guys. I'm a long-time PC user, with a Mac laptop, mainly for photos. Gonna try to download again, this time on my good ol' PC...

What version did you buy? They are not compatible.

I too am running OOTP9 on OSX (on 10.5.3) and I also pre-ordered. Did you receive an emailed order confirmation containing:

Qty: 1 [OOTP9MAC] OOTP Baseball 9 Mac PRE-ORDER at 13.33 GBP each
Registration Information:
Serial Number: OOTP9-????-????-????-????-????

I clicked on "Enter a license key" then copied and pasted the serial number from the email beginning OOTP9 into the box and hit okay and the game was licensed.

Does your serial number looked different?

Regards,

Matt

Looks like you're using a PC license number. If you not did it already (and I believe you did) send me an email and we'll fix that problem.
