Shallow Right goes to Deep Left

A hit going to shallow right field appears to go to deep left field corner.

This actually sounds ok to me, as it says that it rolled to the corner. It was a sharp line drive and the left fielder could not get over to cut it off, thus Lapez heading into 2nd with a double.

BZ 1494: Short Left goes to Deep Right

A shot to short left field seems to go to deep right field instead...

Then how did the ball get from right field to left field (or vice-versa - depending on how you look at it)?

Yeah, it looks like a PBP issue rather than a ball placement one though, if the 9LS stands for short left.

Actually, I believe it works like this...

9 = Right Fielder
L = Line
S = Shallow

So the ball was supposed to to shallow right field, down the line.

Yep, your right. Momentary brain fart. Thinking 9 is left field is not the worst brain fart I've ever had, but in baseball terms its close. My bad. Sorry.

No problem, thanks for participating. I've put together over 30 ball flight grids so far, and I'm pretty comfortable with what is what. When I get a little further along I will probably post a diagram showing the most useful positioning (and why).

I don't have a screen shot, but I also have had at least one instance of the PBP saying the ball did one thing and the "ball" did another. Not a real biggie in the whole picture of things, but it is a problem that is there.

This probably comes under the heading of an extremely visible irritation. I doubt that it affects the play much, but it's a major hit in the "suspension of disbelief" area.

Since the mechanics are sound, and already in place, it will probably be a relatively simple fix - and will probably be implemented in one of the early patches. The main problem for us is that there are certainly more important issues that need to be addressed first.

It's not a text problem, definitely in the code.

I believe this has been logged, but it's not possible to easily search for these animation bugs so I can't be positive.

I'm sure there are plenty of text problems still around with the animation. Animation was added so late that I didn't have a chance to fix very much in the text. As they're found I will attempt to search and fix the categories.

Merged two threads that seem the mirror image of the same problem.

I agree. Thanks for merging them. Ball flight is a very exciting feature, just need to make a few adjustments. I think it will be well worth the effort.

Sluggish, Jerky Ball Flight Animation

While the problems of ball flight direction and location are being corrected, please try to also fix the sluggish, jerky nature of the ball flight.

This issue has been claimed fixed for the upcoming patch (post 9.1.6). If after installing it you still see this behavior, please post in Tech Support. Thanks.
