So many crashes
I don't really know what to say, or even why I'm posting this because I doubt it will do any good, but the new version is horribly unstable.
It's especially bad on my work computer, which admittedly is older but it has a P4 and 2gb of RAM, which should be enough to run a text sim. I absolutely cannot import a historical league into an existing league, as it crashes every time on "sorting database." I can't do anything on my work computer, really, because when I set it to autosim, it will randomly crash out at any time of the year for no apparent reason. My home computer, which is still fairly top of the line despite its age and has no problem whatsoever with v8, is better, but still not perfect. My main problem here is rolling over to a new season. I imported CubbyFan's 08 roster into the game, given how much better it is than the weak stock roster, and half the time it crashes out when advancing to 1/1. I can't sim multiple seasons because of this, so I sim up to 12/31, save it, then try to advance. Sometimes it crashes out and I have to reopen the game, and then sometimes it will advance and sometimes it will crash again. There's no real rhyme or reason to it. I've gotten to 2012 this way, so obviously it does eventually work, but I really want to sim to 2050 in one click but this is completely impossible. I don't know what good this will do. I don't know how anyone would begin diagnosing or fixing my problems. I mostly just want to air my frustration at the instability of v9, and judging from the number of threads about crashes in here, it's not just me. I never had crashing problems with v8.

Hrm. I'm sorry to hear about your difficulties. I actually haven't been reading about these particular kinds of problems.
The roster set data files might have FaceGen issues if they are crashing at the end of the season. Try deleting the faces.dat file on a test copy to see if that solves that particular trouble. As for random crashes throughout the year? Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling the game? That shouldn't be usual behavior. It may also be that you have simply created too large a league for your computer to handle. Here are some tips to help mitigate that: http://www.ootpdevelopments.com/boar...auto-play.html In terms of importing a historical league into a fictional league, were you able to do that in OOTP 8? Are the two leagues set to the same year? If not, I'm almost absolutely sure that it can't work. |

I'm willing to write off the crashes on my work computer as it just being an old, crappy machine. I can import historical leagues fine on my own.
The main problem I'm having is the crashing on 1/1 with Cubbyfan's roster. I tried your suggestion and deleted faces.dat, but it didn't help. Sometimes it advances fine, sometimes it crashes. I can't figure out why it does or doesn't work on any given attempt.

I assume you don't have issues with it crashing with a fictional league generated new with OOTP9? Just trying to pinpoint a bit more.
