Pre-1900 issue - can't start league

There's a real problem with leagues created in times when only one subleague existed.

Example: I started a league in 1876 using the league creation wizard. When I it Start League, I got the error message:

Both subleagues have to have the same number of divisions! The error occurred in this league: Major League 1876

I guess the way around it would be to go into Advanced Mode, create a division in the AL (which is empty), and go. But that shouldn't be necessary. The game apparently isn't as compatible with pre-1900 as it should be. You can't simply start a league in an NL-only year. You have to fiddle with it. It seems to me that it should just create a single subleague or something. Or whatever else will stop it from producing an error message.

I discovered this about an hour ago when I was experimenting.

If you look at historical leagues for pre-1901, you'll notice that the two subleague format has to be used right from the start in 1871. OOTP as yet cannot handle the kind of league expansion, contraction, and folding that went on in the real 19th century years, so you have to compromise.

Hopefully for next year a truly accurate represenation of the leagues as they existed before 1901 can be put into the game.

If it can't handle the league expansion/contraction, that's fine. But it shouldn't be impossible to start a league with the wizard in those years. Yes, you can work around it by going in to advanced mode and making edits, but it is a bug because you can't do something that you should be able to do. You cannot use the wizard to create historical leagues in those seasons.

If nothing else, the game should either generate only one subleague for universes starting in those years or... I don't know, do something else besides making it just not work at all through the wizard. New players who don't know how to start the game in advanced mode will be extremely frustrated by this if they get the idea that they want to play out baseball history from the beginning, which is a fairly popular way of playing.

It's one of those things where I scratch my head wondering how in the world it got through beta with such a big flaw.

Is this for strictly fictional leagues, or are you doing a historical or historical-fictional league?
