Popularity...broken?

While this issue has not directly affected me, in my league, several teams are being plagued by the release of seemingly role players or even minor leaguers who for whatever reason have high popularity rankings. Is there any rationale for how the game assigns these popularity rankings?

Also, is there possibly a way to turn the popularity off or even to lock the ratings all at once as opposed to one at a time? Even a button within the game setup menu would be a tremendous help to allow me to edit the more popular players and then lock the rankings.

Has anyone else found the popularity system to be a bit frustrating?

Popularity rankings are based upon ratings and/or performance, but also a random factor. Some times, less than talented players simply become popular among the fans. This means to represent that.

I don't know about any way to lock all popularity ratings. I also don't know any way to just disable player popularity. Sorry that I couldn't be of more help.
