BZ 1561: Can't sign Minor League scouts - second try

I posted a previous thread on this subject that was closed without resolution because someone claimed that there aren't any minor league scouts. As Lee Corso likes to say... Not so fast my Friend.

Please take a look at these images and tell me what the people who are listed under the affliated teams under the scouting section of scouting and personnel are doing? They look like minor league scouts to me. Please make sure you actually take a look at this stuff before you close the thread.

The Double A affliate is the one that had the scout retire at the end of the season and I can't hire a replacement, that is why that image does not show a scout.

Images from Short A and Rookie leagues also show minor league scouts. Oh one other addendum to this thread, it looks like you can appoint the minor league scouts to other jobs, but you can't appoint anyone to a minor league scout. Check the action button and you'll see what I am talking about. You can get to the minor league scouts by selecting Scouting in the Major League level and then clicking the affiliate button in the lower right.

They don't play a part in v9 go to a minor league team's home page then click the personnel tab. You'll notice there isn't a way to get to that screen.


The person who closed your thread was correct in saying this isn't a bug, its the way the game is intended to work. The fact that you can see scouting directors by doing what you did could actually be considered a bug.

Well there is still a bug here. I don't have access to the code to know what is going on behind the scenes so I have no idea if they have some affect on the game or not. In either case there is a bug here. Closing the thread without resolving whatever the bug is was not appropriate in my mind.

This also ties in with another item that was logged in regards to creating fictional personnel and viewing available personnel. Here is a link to that thread.

The fact that there are both Scouting Directors and Scouts listed under available personnel leads me to believe that there is something going on and at a minimum the code needs to be cleaned up.

Please be patient and polite with the volunteers manning Tech Support. There are a lot of threads to go through, and these people are giving their free time to try to help get your issues addressed. Your initial thread mentioned an issue that was intentional. We have no problem with logging related issues that may not be.

Sorry if I seemed a bit snippy, but I felt that the initial closing of the thread was premature, it did not appear that anyone actually took a look at the problem I was talking about prior to closing the thread, or gave me a chance to add additional information about what I had seen before closing it. I think if either one had been done, there wouldn't be any problem. The initial thread was closed 3 hours after I posted it, and less than 10 minutes after the only response it received other than closing it.

Volunteers or not, essentially not listening to people who are spending their time to help you fix the game is not a good way to handle tech support. I hope in the future that if there is a question about a logged issue actually being a bug or not you will give the person posting it a chance to respond before it is closed.

Can someone please check this with the patched version of the game? The developers state that this is working properly for them.
