Bulldog said this well. The penalties for playing out of position are not minor ones. I see absolutely no reason that only the primary position should be imported, particularly for positions a player spent some time at during the season being imported. This should be fixed.

It is way too much work to have to go through and manually fix the defensive stuff. I have to import into OOTP8 then import that into OOTP9.

Good news, guys. Markus heard your appeal and marked this one fixed. His comments were:

"Added the options to base fielding ratings on: entire career, 3 years and just current season."

If this isn't working right in the next patch, please post in Tech Support along with a link to this thread.
