Face Problem

I just downloaded and installed over my previous version, the latest patched version (9.1.2, I believe).
When I went to continue my game, I got an error message when it stopped on "creating picture" for a player.
Can anyone help me to correct this problem?

Thanks for any help.

In the game preferences screen, accessible when you first start OOTP9 up, could you change the FaceGen mode to one of the trouble shooting modes and see if that cures your problem?

Thanks for the answer, Tony. I tried both troubleshooting modes and neither one worked.
I installed a copy of the original version of the game into another directory. Would it be possible to just cut and paste a file into my current league directory? I noticed the original 'faces.dat' file is 0 kb and my league one is 56 kb.
Thanks for your help on this.

Copying the 'blank' faces.dat will remove the faces for the players that have had theirs created, but it should work, and maybe that'll create the player's face ok

Tony, I did cut and paste the faces file, but it seemed to have created bigger errors. Everything I tried, got worse. This is my first time with OOTP and may not be as checked out with the program as I should be. Anyway, I decided to delete the program and re-install the newest patch version and start all over.

Thanks for your help.

My experience with the faces file...I set up a fictional MLB universe with minors, etc. Added ballpark pictures, etc. Right before players were generated, I saved the league to a CD. My son was playing with this setup and received the faces error. We tried both troubleshooting modes and had no luck. I then copied the faces.dat file from the CD to the hard drive, replacing the faces.dat in his saved game (the faces.dat file on the CD was not 0 bytes but was smaller than the file for the league he had started). That solved the problem as faces were generated as he started playing again.

I sure hope this database issue can be tracked down and fixed. Makes me extremely nervous as I've never had problems like this with OOTP in any previous versions.

i have received the following error 4 times now.

after several weeks of setting up a fictional universe based upon MLB and including the international leagues in the game set up and adding a 112 team NCAA and 60 High school league with actual HS in California and getting everything ready to start on 1/1/75.

sim 1 day to 1/1/75 and then on 1/2/75 it goes thru the MLB draft and then starts facegen to generate faces it gets to 86% and then i get this:

Run time error Microsoft visual C++ Runtime Library

this application has requested the runtime to terminate it an unusual way.

Please contact the application support team for more info.

for the patch 9.1.2 in took the suggestion of simply reinstalling the game over the original.

I have already tried replacing the faces.dat file and already tried uninstalling and reinstalling the game.

it didnt work.

now I am going to uninstall the game and delete everything and then download the game again so hopefully it is clean which means two weeks of work gone. history. out the door.

thanks a lot.

i have ootpb07 and have never had an issue with facegen
