Crashing when loading league

Well the game runs fine on my laptop. My desktop is another matter. 1.5ghz, 778 megs of ram, Win xp. After disabling facegen the game now loads to the main menu. The first thing I did was try and convert my old league. It went through the process, saved, then tried to load it and crashed. Now I'm not sure if it matters, because when starting a default league it loads to the same place and then crashes when says "verifying database". And if I try to create a new league it crashes as soon as I click the button.

Yes, I've tried downloading the file and reinstalling yet again. To no success

Could you zip up your old version league and FTP it up to us?

it doesn't matter. its all leagues. After one reinstall I transferred a good file from my laptop to my desktop and tried to open that. It dies in the same spot.

OK. Could you zip and FTP up one of these leagues you've moved across to the laptop so we can see what happens when we try to load them.

I have the same problem. I get an error message when loading a saved game. running windows xp.
