Followup on template problems

http://www.ootpdevelopments.com/boar...-properly.html

Sorry about not responding, but I didn't get any OOTP time in during the last week and so I didn't have time to run tests.

I patched the game to 9.1.2 and deleted off my computer a template that I had downloaded and tried to use in game (although I had already deleted it from the universe setup and it was still having this problem.) And still, the problem continues. I had thought it was working, because I was able to change the names of the leagues I had in the template with no problem. Now though, I added a league, and the problem is recurring, but only for the league that I added (a minor league for the Japanese standard league).

One thing, not sure if it's related or not, but I added this league after I tried to close the game. (For some reason, the game isn't closing until I personally use the task manager to shut down the .exe.) Again, that could be a special problem of its own, but for the purposes of full disclosure, just letting you know everything I did up until the point I repeated the bug.

I tried to recreate this in a different template but have not had the problem occur. I have the template in question still, but I think I'm going to move it to see if it's causing the other problems I have with OOTP.

So do you want to continue to follow up on this, or are you doing fine with your new files/template?

The new template isn't for gaming purposes or saved in anyway. It was just a new template trying to see if the problem was having too many leagues. It doesn't appear to be that either. To be honest though, I'm at a loss. Maybe the downloaded template corrupted it (even though I deleted all the leagues from that template before resaving) and that's the problem, but I really have no idea. Still, if there's no obvious solution, I guess I can re-start (aaugh) and it wouldn't be that big a deal, but I figured it's something you guys would want to know about, just in case it ends up not being an isolated problem.

Alright, thanks. I haven't heard of this problem anywhere else, so I'm hoping that something peculiar happened to your particular files.

Admittedly, I don't like templates at all and would encourage people not to use them whatsoever. They are just unnecessary complication and cause unnecessary problems. Why not just create a league and make copies of it if you want to go back to the start of the league at a later time?

Is there anything else that we can help you with?

Nope, I'm good.

As far as the templates go, I was using them only to create the league in stages, in case my computer crashed or something. Of course, the final one went caput, but oh well.

I've had no issues with templates, but to answer your question, because it allows you to test things, some of which will only affect the league during the creation process--primarily PCMs and such.

Also, they allow you to combine leagues later on.

Fair enough. I'm still not a fan.

Anyway, closing this out.
