Roster / Name Issue for Online League

Suicide Squeeze is having issues with team rosters / names missing or becoming jumbled when owners in my league do an online league update after a sim. The problem doesn't happen all the time on the owners ends, but rosters and names stay consistent and appear fine on my end as the commissioner. I include the names.dat file after each update, but it doesn't seem fix the problem. I've zipped our league file and ftp'd it under the name Squeeze.zip.

I've searched the forums here and found similar problems listed, however didn't see a solution other than zipping the files for someone on your end to take a look at. We're running the latest patch of OOTP 9.

We've been through this several times this season and as near as I can tell the problem occurs after we process trades, but I can't say that's the only time it happens. The only fix we have found to work is for me to zip the .dat files and upload them to the site, have the owners delete the .lg file on their end, create a new folder and unzip the .dat files to that folder. That seems to fix the league file for a few sims on their end as a short term fix, but the problem seems to reoccur after a few sims.

Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance for looking into this.

I'm in Lonnie's league and we seem to be kind of on hold because of this issue. I've also seen it crop up in other online leagues, including over the weekend in another league I'm in. But in the case of the 2nd league, it was again resolved by replacing the corrupt league file with a new one. And I commish a league that has had similar problems in the past.

Any help would be appreciated.

I assume all the owners have the most recent patch, but I'll double check with them. I haven't received any error messages when importing stating "wrong version" for anyones export. Thanks for the suggestion. I really would like to get this fixed..

Have you managed to check if everyone is running the same version yet? Corrupted names can only come from names.dat because that is where it ties ids to text.

All of our owners were on the same version. After some research we determined the problem was being caused by our web host. I tripped across a post on the community forums of the host I was using where a customer was complaining about files he had available for others to download becoming corrupt. After digging some more, I found a considerable amount of their customers complaining of similar issues. We switched web hosts for the league and "knock on wood", have not had the issue since the move.

I'm convinced that something was happening to the file during or after the upload process on the hosts end. Even though many had complained on their boards of similar issues, the host didn't want to admit the issue might have been on their end.

Glad to hear the problem's been solved. I'll move this thread to closed now, and if you get the same problem on this new host, let us know and we'll reopen this thread.
