Defensive Position Ratings Inexplicably Disappear

I'm a huge fan of the game, but two to three seasons in I keep coming up against the same problem. Veterans like Ichiro and Juan Pierre, who should have very high defensive ratings, dwindle to nothing in the defensive category. Now, four seasons in, every infielder's defensive ratings have plummeted, such that the highest ranked defender has a 50 out of 100 and players like David Wright are down to 10 or 0.

This usually happens 3-4 seasons in using historic leagues that start in 2006. Can someone please advise as to what I need to do make sure this doesn't continue? Can I restore defensive ratings in-game, or do I need simply to start anew with different settings?

I have read somewhere about fielding ratings dropping off, but can not remember if that was in OOTP8 or 9. I'll try to find the thread about it - it may take some time, so bear with me.

Positional ratings will be lost if component defensive ratings such as IF Arm, OF Range, etc drop too low. As players age, these ratings drop and they lose the ability to effectively play certain positions.

Are certain component defensive ratings dropping particularly low for all players?

What's pecuiliar is that all IF ratings are dropping to 50 or well below regardless of age while component defensive ratings are remaining relatively normal if not in the upper range of the 1-100 scale...

That makes sense, though the defensive ratings are only dropping off for IF's and it is not age-dependant. There is a rare 50/100, but most ratings are dropping to 35 or below out of 100, though component defensive ratings are remaining relatively high, if not in the upper range of the 1-100 scale.

I wonder if there is any correlation between this and the fact that I have taken a GM job with a different club each year. I can't think of any other abnormality in my game play.

I wasn't able to track down the thread that talked about it, but it has been mentioned in the thread about 'fundamental flaws' so it may well get looked at and sorted in v10.
