Mac: Can't connect to FTP server

I am updated to 9.2.11. I was told by the 4 online leagues to do so. I did and everything was fine. I could export and update files, but since yesterday, I can't connect to ftp server anymore. I have this problem with all 4 leagues. I tried to dowload the game files again with the game closed out and then manually put them in saved games, but I still have the same problem of not being able to connect to ftp server. Any advice? Thanks. Peace.

Still can't connect

I was told to delete my old league files and download them again. I've done that and I still have the same problem of not being able to connect to ftp server whenever I try to update the league file. I'm going to try and re-install the game now. Any advice on this problem would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Also, too, If I need to completely re-install the game and delete the old version before doing it. I do not have my purchase information anymore. Do I need that to get a fresh install of the game? Thanks. Peace.

Your licence details will be a file called licence.txt or receipt.txt in the C:\Program Files\Out of the Park Developments\Out of the Park Baseball 9 directory.

As to why you cannot connect suddenly on all 4 leagues, sounds like something has blocked your FTP access.

Can you open a command window (MS Dos window) and type

ftp ftp.ootpdevelopments.com

and see if you get a user name prompt

I am no one official here, but I have seen many people in various leagues that have had this problem since the update to 9.2.11 the same as you. In those cases, for whatever reason they could never clear it up at all and the end fix for them was to:

- Uninstall ootp9 (delete the leagues you are in, but make sure to save backup copies if you need to). (Also make sure you have your license detail as you stated).

- Freshly install 9.2.11 from the full ootp9 install listed at the top of the ootp9.2.11 patch thread.

- Download your new full league file from your online leagues and extract them to the proper locations.

In every case I have seen so far, that process has fixed the people who had this problem. From what I can see the way the FTP process within the game was reading the hashed ftp account/password from the dat files was breaking and sending out gibberish when trying to do an actual connect. The Clean install of ootp fixed that for them.

Of course Tony M may be entirely correct as well and for some reason your FTP access out to the internet was blocked at roughly the same time as when you patched, but his test that he gave you could help answer that question.

Okay, arrgghh. I deleted the old game, all the files I could find associated with ootp to the trash. I re-installed the game and re-installed the league file. I still can't connect to ftp server. I don't have a firewall on or anything. I've tried this in 3 different locations, so I don't think it's the isp stopping me from doing this. One goofy thing, after deleting the game completely and all files. After I installed it again it loaded up and on the main screen where you can "continue game" button, it had the last league i had loaded on there, "vMLB." This is wierd, cause I deleted every file and folder I could find on ootp before installing a new version. Please help if you can. Thanks.

If you follow the instructions to a point in the How To FTP Files To Us thread in this forum, and you can probably use Safari if that's what you have, are you able to connect to the FTP server here?

I tried the link:

ftp://ootpsupport.com/incoming/ootp/saved_games/

from that thread you had mentioned, but safari nor firefox was able to connect to it.

I get this:

Safari can’t open the page “ftp://ootpsupport.com/incoming/ootp/saved_games/”. The error was: “unknown error” (NSURLErrorDomain:-1) Please choose Report Bugs to Apple from the Safari menu, note the error number, and describe what you did before you saw this message.

I zipped my file and have it ready. can i email it to you somehow instead?

I can connect to it OK, through IE, FF and Chrome, so if you can access the internet through HTTP (to post here), but can't access the FTP site, somehow your FTP access has become blocked.

I'm not a Mac expert and don't know how to find this out and how to unblock it. I'll ask someone who is a mac expert if they can have a look at this thread.

Man, that's a drag. I appreciate the help. Hopefully we can figure it out soon. I have FTP sharing turned on on my MAC in case that comes up. Thanks again.
