Corrupted File

I think I am screwed because I don't have a backup on hand, but it never hurts to ask:

I had a power outage a few days ago with my game still open. I do save repeatedly, so I thought I was ok. This happened right after the free agency period began.

When I loaded the game back up, it reset me back to August. No big deal, I'll just continue from there......the problem is that all of the player stats were the FINAL numbers from the season. So I was set back to August in terms of the schedule, but the player stats were end of season.

I simmed a week to see what would happen, and sure enough - numbers kept accumulating. So although I was in Game 130 or so, the player stats were showing 165, 166 games played.

Very odd, and I think I am just screwed and will need to sim through the season and accept that this particular season is a weird one....that is, unless anyone has a suggestion!

Thanks

Tom

You should have posted this on the appropriate board be it the general or tech support board. You don't even say what game it's for.

Regardless, I don't have any ideas to help you. Sorry. If anything, one of the game database experts might be able to help you.

You could sim until you get to 162 games and then delete the remaining games from the schedule. But keep a backup in case anyone has a better solution than me.

If the game crashed during a save then that would explain this bizarre behaviour. Because there are many .dat files they get written in a certain order and I'm sure that world.dat comes after players.dat, so if it died between them the players would have been updated, but the world.dat which holds the current sim date wouldn't have.

Unfortunately, there's not much you can do about that apart from accept that this was a weird season!

As there hasn't been an update from the OP since the beginning of the year, this thread will be closed for housekeeping purposes. If this is still a problem, let us know and we'll reopen it.
