can't update
I have ootp v.9.0.27 and haven't played in a while. Coming back to the game, I (stupidly) ran the v.9.2.11 updater. On starting the game, I now get a box at 5% load that says "DATABASE::load_database-could not load word file" and then a box "the loading of the database failed. It is either corrupt or a save-game from an old version." I did try to run the earlier updaters, and they do nothing.
Sorry. Any ideas? |

One thing I'd suggest, and it's just me, is when uninstalling and reinstalling - particularly when you're dealing with 'versions' and compatibility issues - select the Load Game option rather than Continue when your game boots back up initially. You may have to use this option, doing what you're doing, but if the option exists, Load it. Historically, that's been the most effective method for me in these instances.

Okay, first. After the message, does it return to the opening game screen? If it does, choose then to LOAD your game. I assume in your OP you meant 'world' file rather than word. Try this if you haven't and let us know.

The saved world did not appear even after trying "load." I installed a backup, and everything seems to work fine. I'm out about half a season, though. Any ideas on how to get the saved game, or do I have to live with the backup.
Thanks. |

Your saved game, *yourleague.lg file, should show up IF it's in your Saved Games folder. Is it in that format and in that folder?
