PC: OOTP 9 - Not working

I purchased OOTP 9 and downloaded that windows version (I have windows XP).

When I opened it I got the first screen but it would just freeze and then close.

The second time I tried opening it there was a message saying that the graphics had been set back to default...but it still just went to the first screen and frooze.

I uninstalled it and reinstalled it - same thing happened. My computer meets all of the requirements...

I've tried opening it from the program file - same thing happens...

Any suggestions? I really want to try this game...

Do you ever get the chance to click on anything like "New Game" or is it dying before this point?
