MAC: Error: Could not open a connection to the FTP server
I recently joined an online OOTP league (World Baseball Hierarchy), and I'm having some trouble with downloading the updating league files from their FTP server. The problem is that when I try to download when I'm at home, on our home network, I cannot connect to the FTP server. When I'm at my college campus, without changing any of my Mac PowerBook Pro's internal settings, I can use the same function without any problems at all.
If I open the terminal window, I can connect to ftp.worldbaseballhierarchy.com just fine (can't login, of course) from home. So why would the game client be failing in this manner? Thanks for all your help. |

Understand that I have little knowledge when I make such statements, but it sounds as if your home network has some sort of protection that is denying the OOTP program access to an FTP connection. Can you check your network settings for some sort of permissions or exceptions?

That was my theory, but I can open FTP connections just fine in the terminal window. So it's not the network. Or, at least, it's not something the network is doing to deny FTP connections in general. I can open the very same connection in the terminal that OOTP cannot open itself. Which is... strange, in addition to being annoying.
