Things that are "broken"

I don't mean this to be a flame fest, but I do find that the online commissioner comes across more problems with OOTP due to the fact that online leagues tend to be more demanding of the game in general.

Couple of things off the top of my head:

1) When the playoffs start, you generally have non-playoff teams who have roster sizes above 25 due to the September roster expansion. Once the playoffs get started you can't advance the sim until ALL teams are at 25 player roster size. Why? I never recall this being a problem in the 6.x versions. I mean why does it matter if a non-playoff team has a Major League roster of over 25 players.

2) Why doesn't the game automatically place any player placed on a team who carries a Major League contract on the 40 man roster? We allow waiver trades after the trade deadline and to process these we manually edit the player and the team they are a member of (since the game doesn't handle waiver trades correctly). We thus end up with players on a 25 man roster who won't appear on the 40 man unless that player is manually placed on the 40 man. I also think this is why we end up with issues in regards to the Rule 5 draft where players who have a Major League contract showing up as Rule 5 eligible.

This could be easily fixed, with a host of other issues along with it if Markus implemented a 40 man roster during the offseason. The fact is, after September 1st teams shouldn't have to cut down their active roster until the end of Spring Training the following season.

The way I see it, there should be 3 main rosters:
- 40 man roster, in effect year round.
- Active roster, in effect from Opening day until end of regular season. At the end of the regular season, this roster should just go away or the limit should stay at 40 for the entire off season.
- Playoff rosters, in effect during playoffs for Playoff teams only. This should allow seperate rules such as only being allowed the change the playoff roster in between series, not allowing players acquired after September 1st on the playoff roster, etc.

I don't remember Issue #1 being a problem in 2007, but it does annoy me in 2008.

Another thing that annoys me in OOTP8 (I can't remember before) is that I can't get the automator to do my html files, it always freezes at the same point. The game's fine, I can click ESC and go back fine, but it's still annoying. I have the mac version of OOTP8.

Why can't I manually edit every portion of a players contract/extension? As it currently stands I can edit the years/salary of a players contract but you can't edit incentives or options.

Why oh why are the signing of scouts/doctors/coaches not handled like any other free agent signing. This frustrates me to no end that they can't be offered contracts like any other free agent via a team export. It turns something that could be a really cool aspect of the game into a painful process that nobody in their right mind would use for an online league.

Believe me, we've tried in several.
