"Gibson . . . swings! And a fly ball to deep right field! This is gonna be a home run! Unbelievable! A home run for Gibson! And the Dodgers have won the game, 5-4! I don't believe what I just saw! . . . I don't believe what I just saw!"

Yeah but that's because McGwire and Canseco hadn't discovered steroids yet.

"According to Bryant, La Russa knew in 1988 that Canseco was doing steroids."

Anyway, while I agree that "marketing" is different from "moderating," these forums are OOTP's primary means of communicating with its customer base, so it strikes me as a little silly to suggest that the two are distinct from each other. As an abstract business concept, it makes sense to me that SI's top marketer play an active role in the day-to-day administration of these forums.

And again, from what I've seen I believe that Marc has done a better job handling us "obnoxious" (potential) customers than Henry or Steve did in the past. But given my sporadic attention to the board, maybe I missed something.
No, I dont believe you missed anything. I'd vowed not to respond to this post but some of the comments seem to be bordering on hysteria and the bandwagon grows.

I've run the Sports Interactive community for nine years, I know how to mod. The same basic principles of modding apply no matter what the forum is.

So far, I think in terms of modding I'm guilty of closing 2 threads, both by Ford Prefect, and both for posting when I'd asked them to be taken off-line.

I've decided that the next time you'll see a post on the forums and a new item on the website from me is when I announce the release date. Till then, you can all speculate and discuss the rights and wrongs of this decision and the lack of blogs on some of the games key features till your hearts content. As I said from day 1 - we never planned to give it to you all straight away.

that's the way it goes in all walks of life. The few make it hard for the majority

Yeah. I just dont see how this is the best decision. Sure a few have put a strain on the situation but this a game that you are trying to sell and cutting off new information would seemingly hurt that. Maybe I am wrong though.

I look at it this way:

iformation is given out in a steady format, enough to entice, but not enough to give away everything. For most, we treat it as a good novel, eagerly awaiting more. Some however, treat it like children receiving gifts at Xmas and continuously wanting more, more more, with predictable results.

of course that's just my brief summary on it, and of course the reaction given to turn off the taps is warrented should such a synopsis be correct. It sucks for most of us, but well, that's the breaks.

Im not too dissapointed. The more I heard the more I couldnt wait. Actually, hearing more about the game made waiting difficult.

I really dont care either way. I just dont totally agree with it. No sleep will be lost however.

Indeed. It does save me asking my one inquiry, but other than that, the release date shoudl be enjoyable for all concerned

For the record, I thought your modding was totally fine, but I also think your decision to not post anymore is a tad bit impulsive.

Exactly my point earlier...

Too much information has been given already, making a certain few so impatient that they have used these boards as a chance to flame Markus, Mark, SI, the Pope, the Grand Nagus, whoever they can think of. So much info has been disseminated, we're on overload.

Canadiancreed has it right, only ONE piece of info is what we need right now, and that's it.

EXCEPT...

A screenshot of in game play would be nice.
