I don't know if that would help you out in your current games... It's not seamless, but it seems to work for most people.

Thanks, I've tried everything suggested here, both for my solo dynasty and the online league I'm in. I'm fairly adept at databases and Access, but trying to get Catobase to work with 6.5 or 6.51 has just worn me out. And it was such an integral part of both the online league and my dynasty that I doubt I'll ever play another baseball sim that doesn't include the ability to create and share Baseball Reference-style pages.

That's why Puresim is looking like a buy for me this year.

Go ahead and buy Puresim. It's a decent game in its own right. It does some things that OOTP 6.5 in particular did not do and has a lot more customizeability overall. Just don't expect it to replace OOTP in terms of playability and, dare I say, strength of almanac any time soon. If you are wary of getting OOTP 2k6 because of lack of Catobaseosity, you're not going to be a fan of Puresim.

What he said. Puresim and OOTP are apples and oranges in the approaches to the game, and IMO everyone who plays computer baseball should own and try both to see which one suits them best.

It's good to see that Shaun is improving the game. More than anything else, however, if the homeruns-after-15-seasons bug doesn't get addressed, all the eye candy in the world won't make it a good game for me. And the too-many-triples-after-5-seasons-or-so bug. Both of those crept right through the last "gold edition" patch.

Again, I think that anyone with enough money should buy both PS and OOTP. Both have their strengths, both have their weaknesses. As PS gets more popular it will only drive SI to improve OOTP more.

My biggest problem with this game so far is the attitude that is coming from some of those involved in it's development.

Questions about a release date have been met with an answer that amounts to "f*#* off. When asked about a release date the answere wa a very disappointed, arrogant and rude, Iit will be released when it's released."

The excitement for this prodcut is quickly started to decline, at least for me. I figured when we started getting a "screen shot a day" we were getting close. Then Marc posts basically that the game will be released the 12th of never.

The only good thing I can say right now, is that it at least seems like the goal here is to release a good product out of the box. They're not going to go the way of ea, and release a buggy product, then maybe patch it later. That is a big plus in this game.

I don't know if this was discussed when si involvment in this product was announced. It has become my opinion watching the way this has all been handlied that eventually Marcus will be squeezed out of this thing, in the same way that EA dismissed the Maxis programmers, and we watched Sim City go from one of the best games ever, to something I wouldn't buy if you paid me to.

At this point, it's almost worth playing baseball mougil, even with the fact that one of the main features will not be available for the first release.

It's a good thing you're not a fan of Microsoft Flight Simulator. Now there's a program that gets released when it's ready. They never announce the release date until maybe a couple of weeks in advance. They don't even say whether or not they are developing a new game. They generally publish every two years or so, but it's difficult to tell. And if you want to find a place to talk about it, well, there's the Microsoft forums. Microsoft is so cryptic-monolithic they make the secret of the Monolith from the "2001" movie seem like the recipe for boiling water in comparison.

I'll probably kick myself for replying to this, but I have to strongly disagree with this. I don't think there was anything even approximating "f off" from the SI team. The only contentious discussions that I saw came after post after post of people angrily attacking SI or their business practices. Most of this happened after SI had politely posted that they were not comfortable in being more specific than Spring 2006 yet.

I think there were several threads wherein Marc and crew would have done themselves a favor by just not responding, but I just think your statement is patently untrue, unless you consider SI's current release date of "Spring 2006" to be "an answer that amounts to 'f off'"...

Actually they never said "it will be released then it's released". What they said and have said since last summer is "spring 2006". Of course in your world
spring 2006 = f*#* off.

i don't think Marc Duffy ever answered a poster by saying this. i don't think he's ever posted that anywhere.

IIRC, that was the mantra for the boards before the release of v6. SI had nothing to do with that.

Allow me to clarify. OOTP for years has been saying that the game will be released when it is tested and ready. Now SI comes in and gives an answer even less f-offish than that one. I'm not saying SI is being mean; I'm saying the opposite.

What?! Talk about melodrama, when have they even come close to saying F*** you? I mean, just don't throw out this half-assed accusation without something to back it up. C'mon, let's see the meat, let's have Marc or Markus telling a polite customer inquiring about the release date to at least "go to hell" or something.

Let's see here, they say they don't want to give us a date yet since they're in beta testing and don't want to uncover something bad that might then throw off that date and piss off people. You even acknowledge the wisdom of this in your post. They've also said that they plan to give a release date towards the end of March, look it up. They also seem to have more ideas for marketing that will kick off around that time.
