Good questions. Just the other day a long-time commish of a popular online league said he wouldn't upgrade the league to OOTP2006 if they couldn't include the old history with the new (and so the others didn't need to get the game if they weren't going to otherwise). I was very surprised by that, but maybe he's not the only one who feels that way.

Once again, Markus shows why he is a Golden God.

Great work, amigo.

This has nothing to do with CATOBASE and I very much doubt you can import catobase files into it. It probably takes all the stats in the OOTP database to make this function.

Well, I'm equally sure that you WILL get answered. It just might not be soon. Theoretically, if the values in those cato reports are generated dynamically based on values that will be imported from OOTP 6, then it should be capable of rending that information.

But, I don't know if ALL of the data required to generate those reports will come over during import.
Im not being "glass half-empty" Im glad Markus got the screens up, but those are two questions I felt to be important.

I dunno though, majorjello. After all, catobase doesn't have any more data than OOTP 6 does - that's where it GETS its data. You wouldn't have to import catobase files, IMHO.

Hmmm, "I'm sure won't be answered" and "I look forward to being ignored"? You sound like Eeyore.

Anyway, they're good points. Hope they get addressed. Honestly, I think those are more likely to work out than some of the other requests we've seen. But what do I know?

I wouldn't say I wouldn't upgrade the league without seeing the game first, but possible transfer problems such as this could prolong the process in hopes of waiting for mods or work-arounds.

that wasnt based on their recent run in with posters the last couple weeks, its on my own personal history here....I think Ive had 1 question answered directly by Markus in my 2 years here, so Ive learned not to get my hopes up.

That's not quite fair, since the game isn't done yet - so any answer could be incorrect. I will say, however, that based on the fact Markus already said history compiled in Version 6 (in other words, the Almanac) won't be transferred since it's in HTML files - not in a database. I also suspect it's "unlikely" that the information will be "exactly like Cato" although that doesn't mean it won't be complete.

Hey, what's wrong, dude? I'm sure if your questions can be answered they will at some point. And anyway, even if you get ignored, it could be worse - you could be like me who gets a question answered, and then after replying to it seemingly innocuously, starts a massive row.

BTW, thanks Markus for the shots, but if you're ever marketing in Kansas City, I think you should leave the one team page out of it - I somehow don't think the "Kansas City Slugs" will go down too well.

you're adding to my belief that the questions wont be answered at this point...Im not strictly saying its negative like most people nowadays would be...I simply meant they probably wouldn't be answered.

any guess by anyone without having played the game (or coded it) would be pure speculation, with the guess only coming from limited and sometimes, unsure, knowledge.

I realize, the answer could change as the game gets finalized, but Markus would probably have a good feeling as to how the final product will be in these two areas. Or at least

Again, no negativity, Im sure Markus won't be back here to answer my questions as he's coding the game and may not have answers at this point...

Im yousta having my questions ignored, its not a big deal to me anymore.

I think that might be true for a few. Which is a shame. I'm holding out hope that the mod-makers will be able to create a utility that allows us to input league history that will become part of the OOTP2006 database.

I mean, there must be SOME way of editing histories.
