Well this is just absolutely amazing and it's going to make my solo leagues so much more enjoyable to be able to just spend hours looking at historical stats and such. I LOVED using Catobase for this, but I hated having to start the routine and then go to bed to have it done in the morning while it generated player reports all night.

My question, though, is how is this going to translate into HTML pages (or has this been answered already and I just somehow missed it?) Since the game creates these things on the fly, we obviously can't expect our websites to do the same (wouldn't that be the greatest thing ever). Are we going to be able to generate a certain report and save it to HTML or tell the game to generate HTML pages based on what we're looking for?

Thanks for any input you can give, and if this has already been answered could someone link me to it? I've looked and couldn't find it.

That means starting over for some of us. There's no way I'm NOT going to have the cato feature pick up my whole league history when I know I can start over and get it all in there. The problem with saving my almanac is that it seems the cato-feature will start from scratch so it won't match my almanac. That being the case, I'd have to do manual calculations for most catagories to get the real leaders, etc. I'd rather have the program keep track of all that for me autamatically.

Am I upset about this. No way! I'm excited about it. Sure, I'd rather import and keep my solo league going into it's 17th season. But, I don't have to let my Metro Leagues go, just start over. Still, it's worth it to have a cato-like feature contain all of my league's history. Plus I've always wanted this feature in the game. I plan to use it to the full.

I don't know this answer yet, but I would be totally shocked if there isn't ultimately (by launch time) an option to run these reports for export to a web site. I mean they're already in HTML format in the game, it's just a question of running them all at once. Knowing how important that is to online leagues, it seems like it would happen.

But, I've been wrong before about stuff I thought really should be in there.

I'm going to go out on a limb, here ... it's not that they're bad, persay, but there are better stats to use for the same purpose.

PS - without the grid being used in the game, UZR would be impossible to calculate so that's one the game won't have.

I find it to be the best (maybe it's just easiest, though) for comparing careers. Using career, peak years, etc. What would be better? I was looking at VORP...there is not as much available on it as far as "career" evaluation.

I'm hoping that there is an option to have them dynamically created instead of static HTML.

An important detail. I sat there and counted it out to make sure I was really seeing a $200M+ payroll. It's much easier with commas. At least for me.

Those are actually pesos - those players are cheaper than you think!

VORP is positional.

offensively speaking, WARP, VORP, and WS all combined give a great picture of a player's individual years as well as career.

WARP2 - http://www.baseballprospectus.com/gl...wstat&stat=194

VORP - http://www.baseballprospectus.com/gl...wstat&stat=186

Thank you sir! Right now I have been using Win shares (much in the way James does with career, 3 best years, 5 cons., per 162/40 starts) and combining that with other career rankings available in CATO. I use this to create a pt. system for ranking careers (and HOF entry).

I personally will give that up to have it in game like Markus showed us, though. So I am happy. Just trying to get a head start on some new systems.

It is a more....glorified for a lack of a better term....version of the almanac. It can be quite bas ass if I may say so. If I can't, than it kicks ass.

These pages you see in the game are all HTML So, all I need to do (better said, Andreas needs to do) is write a little function that spits out the entire history to folder X...

When browsing the histroy from within the game, the pages are HTML pages which get dynamically generated

That would be a wise decision... I'll consider it when I have the age of a wise man

They say that you can be wise at any age.

There is a chunk of my youth of which some of the memories are obscured by alcohol, and the associated parts that I can remember involved public drunkenness, wild women, barfights, and miscellaneous bad behavior.

I'm not sure if I regret it or not.
