Player Hometown

When editing a player, I put his hometown as Springfield and it made it Springfield, MA. However I want Springfield, IL and there seems to be no way to make it that. Flaw?

I'd imagine Springfield, IL is probably missing from the cities list (just as there are multiple Brooklyns, but none in New York unless you edit the file to include the Five Boroughs).

It's in the database. If I want to put a team in Springfield it gives me a list of all the Springfields in the U.S. (and there are quite a few and Springfield, IL is one of them). But if I want a coach/player from Springfield my only choice is Springfield, MA.

Yikes! Thanks for pointing this out. Now I'll need to look up population numbers for each borough.

In the old days, of course, Brooklyn really was an independent city in every sense. Even since annexation, people from Brooklyn (and, often, people from others boroughs) will not say they're "from" New York City. Letters addressed to New York, NY, go to Manhattan; the others boroughs' mail is addressed as such.

i posted on this the other day and got a similar answer. Ive tried everything to get it to use the city i want in the correct state. Would be nice to get some kind of official response or something. However I am assuming it is just an oversight. Its a minor complaint but still.

Yes, there should be a dropdown with all of the "Springfields" in the database so you can choose which one you want.

This is really kinda irritating. Glendale, CA? Nope. Only Glendale, AZ.

Okay, new flaw: Imported players import wrong too. Paul Derringer was imported to Springfield, Massachusetts instead of Springfield, Kentucky.

On a related note, when you type in a City name for a team, does the game know where the city is? or is there a way to specufy which state if there are multiple cities?

Like if I made the Memphis Blah, would it know they were in tennesee? ( just an example, wanna know if it works for smaller cities too)

When you assign a team to a city, it provides you with a drop down box in which you can select the correct state. The game has every city with a population of 1000 or greater in it.

When you assign a player/coach to a city, you're stuck with the more populous one and there's nothing you can do about it.

I'm not seeing a dropdown box. I put in Centerville under Team Name and it doesn't let me choose which one it is. is there a certain way I need to do it?

In the league creation screen, you just put the city IE Springfield

Then in the game, go to the Teams menu and select Springfield. Under the HOME tab, there is an Options & Ballpark sub-menu. Click it and you'll see the Select Exact City tab.
