Monthly Quick Scouting of My Organization
The manual says that my headscout will quick scout all the players in my organization each month. If I have invested the time to do a more legnthly scouting of my organization using my headscout, won't the ratings from these montly quick scouts negate that investment?

I believe you are right and it raises a valid point for consideration.

Though it seems that it should be that way, I'm not convinced it is. Would be nice to get someone who KNOWS to comment...

Make sure you use your head scout to scout the whole league every so often. I was under the false impression he was going to quick scout the whole league every year since he does it on the inception. Wrongo. Year two I was trying to make trades with scouting reports that were waaaay outdated.

I thought the head scout quickscouting the other teams every time you played them. Good to know, Faroo!

I really don't thing quick-scouting and "regular" scouting differ from one another. Everytime I quick-scout a guy I get the same ratings (I've tested it on many occasions out of curiosity).

A player's ratings could have changed. The way to test this is to scout one way, reload a saved game and scout the other way, and then check actual ratings to see if one or the other is more accurate....

Wouldn't it be easiest to just quick scout right after the regular scouting finishes and see if there is any difference?
You'd have to do it on multiple players, with several different level of scouts, etc |

I usually use my head scout to do the draft and then as soon as its over get him starting on scouting the whole league. This way he has pretty much finished around the off-season (depending on the size of the league) and I can go into making any off-season acquisitions with up to date info.
I will use my other guys to scout countries and I always try to get a pitching scout and a hitting scout so that if neccessary I can use one of them to give a second opinion on a player.

Marc, Markus... any thoughts?
I think one option would be to have the monthly scoutings produce results more like the detailed scouting option. Maybe these scoutings should be quarterly? Pro: It seems plausible that an organization should know its own talent as good or better than it does for any other organization Con: The detailed results would be "free" Another option would be to have an option to disable the monthly scouting; that just doesn't feel right, though. |
