I'm confused here. I am trying to release a player in the last year of a contract. The player was signed to a 3-year deal "before 2004." The current game date is August 14, 2006. The final year of the deal is worth $740,000. When I go to release the player, it tells me that releasing him will cost me $1,274,444.
Why is his cost to release so high? What am I missing here? |

you should try keeping him on your roster unti Jan 1 then release him. It probably is counting this whole years salary against you instead of pro-rating it.

His salary is as follows:
2004 - $740,000 2005 - $740,000 2006 - $740,000 We are at the mid-point of August of 2006, so I would think that dropping him should only cost me a fraction of the $740k. Instead, it seems to be charging me 100% of his 2006 salary plus 72.22% of another year that I don't even owe him. Is there some sort of additional penalty that you have to pay when you release a player? |

Well here's what it seems to be doing.
Take this current year's full salary (740,000) and add the currently paid prorated portion (roughly 486575). The sum of that is 1,226,575. That's the best I can come up with. I'd post this in the support forum.

Every player I release with a salary it has this bug. I haven't checked if it actually works right or not, but the dialog box always has a higher amount.

Does your ML team play 162 games a season? If so, that ML team played (as of the date of that screen shot) 117 games hasn't it? The way it works is that 1/162 of a players contract is charged to you're expenses every time your ML team plays a game (or however many games your ML plays I would suppose). If your ML team plays 162 games, and they've played 117 games at the time you're trying to release him... then that pop up is saying you'll be charged his entire contract, plus what you've already paid him so far this year, in a one time buyout..... that's not right. I would be interested to know what it really does charge you when you release him... if it charges what that popup says it's a bug in the way it's charging you... if it charges you 740k it's a bug the same way, if it charges you close to 205,555 then it's right and the bug is in the popup. There's also bugs in the staff section when firing, or even when they leave when their contract is up... so I wouldn't doubt it's also in the players finances too. |
