New OOTP skin

I'm working on a new skin for OOTP and I'm looking for some guinea pigs to try out it and tell me what they think. Is anyone out there hosting skins?

How is it different from the existing ones? What's the color scheme?

Color scheme is...earth tones, I guess. I'm tentatively calling it "Outfield".

I'm not sure how far I'll go with this but it was a fun couple of evenings.

Nice work. I really like the graphic of the batter in the batters box.

Thanks. I cooked up a couple of other options for the batter in this thread: Batter Replacement Graphic

Looks real nice. And may I ask where you got that field picture from? (and if you could post it for me...? )

It was gleened from the internet someplace. Really, it's not part of any skin. To get it showing there where I have it in that screenshot, you need to put it in the data/ballparks folder (having backed up the current files elsewhere) and it will be there for all games of OOTP, whatever the skin. There's also a file called default_turf.jpg for turf stadiums. I just copied this file to that filename as well.

I'm making a smaller version of it for the SION webcast screen (which would be only part of this skin). Anyway, here's the file:

Thanks for that, its much better than the default-default picture! And I'm looking forward to seeing this skin in action!

Could be. It wouldn't hurt to email the guys. I'm in a league with them and they both are nice guys. It looks like a nice skin. Don't see why they wouldn't be interested.

Anyone remember the red brick skin for OOTP 5? I loved that skin!

I bet they'd start one for you.

Nice work, by the way. I'll be sure to download a copy.

Great job, I'll use this one if for any other reason than just the better lineup font in the gamecast screen

Great effort. Just two items of constructive criticism, if I may?

I think the leaning digits on the scoreboard would bother me. Better than the lightbulb font that some people have criticized as hard to read, though.

The stadium photo is attractive but it may not be suitable for the broadcast screen IMO. It's proportioned so that even if you adjust player coordinates (a must, to me - your catcher is buying a ticket to get in?), I think the centerfielder box will end up under the semi-transparent SION banner.

Just opinions from an admittedly retentive person. I appreciate your effort and willingness to share your work. (That batter looks familiar . . .)

Agreed. Yeah, it's a tough balance between easy to read and interesting enough to justify a change in font. I like the Comics font. I'll see if I can find one that isn't leaning.

You're right. It does. I may adjust it to fit better for my own use but really, it isn't part of the skin. I've been tweaking the field in a smaller version for use with the Webcast screen.

Thanks for the input.

How do you change the scoreboard font?
