If you get fired, and you want to continue your career without using the Commissioner Mode to force OOTPB to give you a major league team, then your only options are to either manage a minors team or uninstall the game. That's how I ended up in the minors.

I agree completely that all that needs to be changed is better interaction with the AI manager, and an AI that does a better job of understanding the minors -- although that's got to be an enormous undertaking.

I read this criticism about another game, and it fits here: using the AI (with respect to minors) is like looking at a painting in a hotel room and thinking that all of the details in the picture are correct.

See my second paragraph in post #16. You really have to learn how to manage day-to-day in terms of lineups, depth charts, and pitching staff to handle the chaos. You can do this and concentrate on the finer points of in-game management without the distractions that a GM has to deal with (managing affiliate rosters, for example).

It really would not be so bad if the AI would calm down the roster moves and stop picking up every crummy FA it can find and send down to the depths. I think OOTP will be working on AI roster management again for the next version, so I may try this again then.

One would still need to accept the fact that he is not in charge of his roster, as some number of changes that he would not agree with will still be made by the AI over the course of a season. As is realistic. However, this alone is probably a dealbreaker for most folks as far as managing in the minor leagues.
