1969 MLB expansion - minor leagues Q
Just curious... Accdg to Jason Webb's minor league history spreadhsheet, three of the four '69 expansion teams - the Padres, Expos, and Pilots - each functioned that season without Triple A or Double A teams. How did they operate this way? To & from where did they send & retrieve players? There's probably an obvious answer - like working arrangements with other major league teams, but I was wondering... Anybody know?

I believe Seattle's AAA team was the Vancouver Mounties and the Clinton Pilots was their AA affiliate.

The Pilots and Expos used Vancouver in the Pacific Coast League as a AAA co-op.
The Padres and Royals used Omaha in the American Association as a AAA co-op. The Pilots and Expos did not have AA affiliates. The Padres and Royals used Elmira in the Eastern League as a AA co-op. Hope this helps.
