Oh, was I off-topic? Sorry…
I agree as well. He makes a fool of himself all the time, he completley lost control of that team, and fell so far from the philosophy of small which won the series for them last year.

Not to mention the way he screwed up McCarthy, Podsednik, and Anderson. He may have messed them up for good.

But this rant is for a different forum, my apologies for going off topic.

Well, I started a new historical league using A-Rod's random db. I had a fantasy draft to start. Five years in my Mets have won 4 out of 5 world series!!!! Keep in mind that before this I had NEVER won a championship in ANY of the text sim games I play...crazy!!

nothing ticks me off more than spending $20 million on free agents (a stud SP is $17 of that) and then going from 3 games out to 20 games out (still 10 games over .500). i hate having my team in a league with a team on a dynasty run. my wife doesn't understand my hatred for a "fake" team!

I think that 2006 is the hardest version of OOTP I have played yet. I am still having trouble finding an enjoyable level of difficulty to play on. A lot of it hinges on the trading difficulty.

When the trading is set on average, the game is too easy IMHO. So long as the player has some talent, and is under 32/33, I can move them pretty easily and get great talent in return.
However, if I kick it up to "Hard", I can no longer make acceptable trades. No matter who you offer, scrub or star, every team is skeptical and offers a modest AAA player in return.

I play on "Hard", because it indeed makes the game more challenging. While I still enjoy the challenge, I wouldn't mind making a handful of nice trades each season. I pretty much have to go to FA to add players of worth to the roster now. Which, by the way, I still contest that FA signing is too easy. While not at 100%, I still can sign 80-90% of players with ease.

Anyway, it would be nice in the future to have better tweakable trading AI, instead of just 5 settings to choose from.

I was away a few days and I was just getting caught up on these boards when I came across this statement. With bitter irony, I note what a difference a few days can make in post-season baseball. One hot streak, or one cold streak, and the season is over. Oh well, that's baseball, gotta love it. Congratulations, Tigers fans!

Thank you for pointing this out. I just twitted Mannymo for saying something about the Phillies which, upon looking back two months later, looked equally obtuse.

No, not obtuse, Curtis. I was just saying to a friend last week that I feared the Twins, not the A's, as the hottest team in the AL, overlooking the Tigers completely. You can imagine how I feel now. But, I am a fan of baseball first, Yankees second. What happened to the Yankees and the Twins is good for baseball so I accept it. Almost.
