Adding Leagues

Just a thanks to Markus for adding the ability to add new leagues as we go. This was a disappointment to me when it didn't happen last year and it will add to my enjoyment immensely. I want to get started with a game and add league as time goes on, not have to sit and create all 30 leagues I ultimately want right up front. This will be great!

I agree, I love this feature. On that same token, the ability to have a true expansion is also a great feature.

It's an embarrassment of riches!

Yeah, expansion and the add/delete thing pretty much sold the game for me. I could've probably survived without expansion, but the add/delete thing, had it not been in, there would've been no way I would've bought the game (for me that's saying a lot).

I don't know if it would've been that drastic for me although I would not have been happy. Being a fictional player I want the ability to see leagues come and go as my universe evolves over time. Like in the real world how a year or two ago the Aussie League collapsed but a new one apparently is coming along in late 2007.

I do hope that the stats and history of defunct leagues will still be preserved. Another cool thing would be if a league could fold and then be reanimated, keeping the stats of it's previous life intact. Still even without this the game took a major step in the right direction with this new feature IMO.

I have wondered about this too. That would be really cool.

Adding historic teams in any year and historic individual players are wonderful, too.

I agree. Adding/deleting Leagues was the biggest game seller/killer of the features.

There are a great number of additions to the game and I feel fortunate to have the opportunity to use them in 2007, but without add/delete leagues I seriously doubt I would have purchased the game.

The fun part is that you can also add world templates to your world at any time.

For example, let's say you play a fictional set but decide to add a real roster set that somebody created. Simply save that as a template, and add it to your existing league So you can basically merge any number of OOTP 2007 games into one single game.

I think what is really cool is the fact that I can just take my existing small world from 2006 and then just expand it to my liking when 2007 comes out.

Question on world template

How does the additon of a world template impact the country and city files?

In OOTP 2006, if you use another template, then the city and country files used to create the template come along with it. For example, if you set Puerto Rico to level 4 and the template had Puerto Rico at level 3, then the league you create will have level 3.

What happens under this version?

Better still, can be edit the country and city files mid-game in OOTP 2007?

This is a huge question I haven't seen an answer to yet.

This is something that will really need to change in the future. I'd go so far as to call it a design error. You can't accurately model the real world over time without allowing this to be edited.
