Skydog, just a quick question: I really like your overall settings but would love to have a little more HR's. 30 years into my game I only had one 50+HR season and mostly the top HR hitter doesn't have more than 35.

What would be the easiest way to tweak this?

Thanks.

I have tried without the draft, but the game still tries to do it and crashes the same spot..

Even though the teams have no players try this, release all and run draft. This will reset the draft and hopefully the error....

Quick question....should I need to make any adjustments to the totals/modifiers to get similar results w/ a 36 team setup?

This is a very big online league that is starting up and we want to make sure our statistical output is inline before going live.

Hey Skydog,

I ran a 15 season test league and I noticed that the ERA and hitting are a little bit lower then I would like. What is the best way to change this without causing a bad chain reaction with other stats?

I am new to the game and I would love to do some testing like this myself, but I have a question about your method. You say that you have had 1 .440 hitter in 100 years, or x amount of 100+ basestealers. I would like to know how you make that conclusion, or are you just saying that x amount of batting champions have batted .400 from the history screen. I ask because I don't know how I would ever know if I had a guy bat .403 and another guy that batted .401 the same year. So in reality my league produced 2 .400 baters and I have no idea how I could ever know that short of dumping all stats at the end of the year and looking at all 100 files.

Thanks!

Just look at the single-season record holders.

Because I prefer a smaller league.

Skydog, I have one more question. My ML league has 30 teams, should I still use 160,000 AB for my calculations? My league has it at 167,353, should I just leave it as that and use your modifiers?

Has anyone here tried these settings with smaller leagues, say 8 teams?

I recently simmed with these settings in a multi-league universe. All the leagues used the settings. The ML-level league at the top of the world hierarchy has 16 teams--the results I got were good and mostly consistent with the expectations for HRs, Bat Avg, etc. For the other, smaller leagues (6 teams), all at the INT level, I got a boatload of .400+ average hitters over the course of 10 or so years (2-3 per year). I haven't analyzed too closely the other stats for these small, non-ML leagues, but just going by the number of .400 hitters, I'd say that the variables of league size and league level are significant factors... Which is probably an obvious statement, but I'm not smart enough to figure out how to get around this issue.

I'd test it myself, but my computer is so damn slow. I'll see what I can do overnight, I suppose.

Of course, I screwed up the overnight test but not averaging out the ballpark factors. And, somehow, 1 years were playing in the league.

Anyways, could someone please do me the favor of running a sim with a 6 or 8 team league with the basic numbers and just seeing what you come up with?

Hopefully the experts here can help me fine tune my league settings some.

I only have an 8 team league that I play out every game, so I have a small sample size so far, but the K and BB totals seem out of wack to me.

I'm using the 1.01 settings.

Let me know what I should try changing and by how much.

Pitching Totals

I don't have an anwer for you but you should consider that with a league that small, the stats will depend much more on the players you have. A couple of good strikeout pitchers could bump the K's significantly.

SkyDog -

Very nice!!! I am currently setting up a league, and was wondering what you would suggest for a Japanese league or any other foreign league being added to the universe? Should we leave those the same as default?

Just because this needs to be on the FRONT PAGE again. This is one of those excellent threads that should have been stickied instead of letting it run down the drain.

Skydog, you mentioned desiring starters who finish what they started, but you show your endurance setting at low. Is that correct?
