Question regarding manager mode?????

First of all, the game is really awesome. One thing I would like to try, is to start my managing career in Single A and try and progress to the majors over a period of time. My question is, if I start in the 50's or early 60's, it doesn't appear that the AAA, AA, and A minors have enough players to field a team. I understand the whole "ghost" players issue, but as the manager I would like to have close to 25 players if not 25 to manage. Do I have to select the choice of fill all minors with fictional players where necessary? Wanted to see if anyone else started out this way? Thanks!

I would think that if you are going to manage in the minors, you wouldn't check to use "ghost players". That way as you progress, you are guaranteed to have a full roster at every level. Some might think it's micromanaging, but if you want to do the minors, that would seem like the only logical choice IMO.

If you're using a historical database, chances are that you won't be able to use full minors, because no historical database includes players that never made it to the majors. But if you're doing a fictional league, you should have plenty of players. If you don't, you can choose to fill with fictional.

Yes, you could do that in a historical league and then just fill the remaining minor league spots with fictional players. Just make sure that when you create the league, you select the option to not allow fictional players to make the majors, if you don't want any interference with real players.

Gibson swings, and a fly ball to deep right field! This is gonna be a home run! Unbelievable! A home run for Gibson! And the Dodgers have won the game, 5 to 4; I don't believe what I just saw! I don't believe what I just saw!

You also would want to select use full rosters in your league setup settings, too.
