Question on Comissioner mode

I'm in comissioner mode and I'm acting for one of the teams in my fictional league.

Unfortunatly the AI ist still doing moves like hiring coaches and making offers to FA's

Any idea?

Yes, your only acting as, the AI still has control of the team, The Acting as is only ment to be used for comishiners that need to make one time changes to a team, not run them day to day, if you want to run them you need to be hired by them (and in comish mode they will hire you).

It will also allow you to go over budget, so if this is not something you want, you have to monitor it manually.

For these reasons, I don't play as commissioner any more. First, I want to see if I would be fired or if I'm doing a good enough job. Second, I don't want the unrealistic advantage of being able to spend more money than I really have.

If I do get fired, however, I temporarily don my commissioner hat and seize back what is rightfully mine. My old job, that is. I can just imagine the owner saying "Whaaaaa? Again? I just fired you yesterday! What do I have to do to get rid of you?"

I always play in commissioner mode because I don't like the whole hiring/firing part of it. I like to choose a team and run that team ad infinitum. Unfortunately, that isn't quite supported in the game without using commissioner mode.

I started to do this after I took over an expansion Rockies team, and I was fired after the team went 12-23 in the first year. But then I did not realize that I could go over budget. I put together a good team before I realized what was happening.

So I took over the Royals. They were the worst team with the smallest payroll (In no small part because when editing their ballpark data I made capacity 40 instead of 40,000---whoops)

So now I just jump into commish mode if I get fired, and feel that I have a good team blueprint in place.

I just exhibit a bit of self control and make sure I end up in the green at the end of the year.

When you offer someone a contract in Commish mode, it still tells you whether you can afford it or not, given the owner's specified budget. So you can easily implement a house rule that limits you to exactly the same budget you would have if you were not playing in Commish mode.

(nods knowingly) Ah, you're looking to play in Cornelius MacGillicudy mode. So am I.
