My best bet is to use Spring Training to plop the guy in to the spot you want him and have him play there religiously until the start of the season. Tha way, he ill have about from the various skill and learning ability of player about a 17 to 32 out of 100 rating for the start of the season. IMO.

I'm a little disappointed that players don't seen to improve much when learning defensive positions in spring training. I'd like to be able to tell the AI to let certain players play 7 innings instead of 4 or 5. Perhaps the algorithm for developing skills could be accelerated in ST only.

I know, but the question was if one can put a matured player out of position in the Majors. Of course one can, and eventually he might learn. But when his percentage drops below .900 (and I already start frowning at FP's below .950, most certainly at LF) in the process, it's not a good idea unless you're aiming to throw away your competiveness for an odd 15 games.

Uhm, Mike Cameron? Mets, 2005. MAJOR disaster there, and solely attributable to his being moved from center to right. Beltran is the guy who should've been moved. No respect.

In my 2006 Nippon League the guys are picking up three experience points for only playing two or three innings in spring training. I'm pretty sure that number of innings had no bearing on experience accrued — just number of games. Do you believe that's changed in 2007?
