Color me sad
I bought 2007 this week for my two online leagues that are converting. I didn't buy 2006 and still run a 5.14 online league.
But, I said, man, people seem to really like this game, I'm going to try a solo league. I ran like 2 months of my season, was just simming a day at a time and doing lineups. Crash. Like an hour and a half of playing (most of it just learning my way around), all gone. Now, I don't know what happened or if it'll happen again, I was just looking at my homepage and simming. Is there any sort of crash log file? I'm still pretty excited for my online leagues, but OOTP 2007 just suffered a major injury and I think a severe "potential" loss for solo play by my scouting. Someone tell me this doesn't happen often

I definitely have more crashes with 2006/2007 than with previous versions. There hasn't been much change between 2006 and 2007 for me either. Crashes come at odd times. Most often, they happen when I click on a player in a lineup screen during a game or do a few quick clicks in a row. I definitely have to keep it in mind to save my game often.
However, it's worth it for the upgrade in ability that 2007 brings.

I have had a small number of crashes, but I can at least identify what action has caused them. A few notes:
-it is my understanding that a patch will be released quite soon, which I'd guess will resolve some, hopefully most, crash issues; -the latest release of CubbyFan's roster set seems to be crashing many games after a month of simming. This just came up recently, so hopefully will be fixed in his next roster update; -FaceGen seems to cause crashes for some. Updating video card drivers should at least make such crashes less likely. Worst case, you can disable FaceGen; -When pitchers are injured late in a game that's being played out, this can cause a crash. This is a known bug, and I'll be very surprised if it isn't fixed in the next patch; (someone can correct me if I'm mistaken, but I think this was claimed fixed in the most recent patch, but wasn't completely fixed.) -I have one regular crash, FaceGen-related, using CubbyFan's roster set. Otherwise my game has only crashed in two situations: when accessing the scouting tasklist screen, and after bookmarking the Player Shortlist screen and trying to use the bookmark. Both crashes occur regularly, but not always. No one else seems to have had these specific problems, so I just save my game before attempting to use Scouting Tasklists, I don't bookmark the Player Shortlist, and I almost never see a game crash. Odd, I haven't had one crash, perhaps I'm not using some functionality that some of you are using.
With that being said, I usuall save my game after each day or so and make regular backups.

Were you doing anything in particular before the crash? Personally, I haven't had any crashes since the game got out of beta, but I'd definitely like to try and reconstruct any crashes you may have run into.

I'm almost OCD about saving and backing up so I never lose more than a week or so of ingame time. The time I notice it crashing was mentioned above - when I make a few clicks in rapid succession.

Same thing. I'm even running a league that's been converted from V2 to V3 to V4 to V6 to V6.5 to V2006 to V2007. Not a single crash with 2007 despite a 40-league universe and FaceGen.

Probably no chance at reconstructing this one... I'll likely just be making lineups and exporting to FTP, I probably won't have the time to do a solo league really.
Of course, that's always worked for me, and honestly I don't expect the game never to crash, it seems far more involved than past versions and even those freaked out once in a while. I should just learn to save more often

Really? I've looked for this all over the place and have never seen it. I even had a pitcher once get hurt on the very last play of the game. At first it appeared that the game wasn't going to let me swap the pitcher out and would keep me on that page forever, but then I noticed the "End Game" button on the lower left-hand corner of the screen.

Huh. I've seen it get really slow when dragging and dropping to lineups and rotations, and I always expect it's going to CTD, but it has never actually done that to me so far. How much RAM do you have?

Always backup your saved games. If you're working on a saved game that has lasted a number of seasons, you absolutely MUST produce a backup of it, almost every time you finishing playing it. Otherwise you're tempting fate.
