webcast or broadcast for pbp?

With ootp2007, I tried playing the sion webcast rather than the sion broadcast and I have not any desire to go back to the broadcast. I think the game creators did an excellent job with the webcast feature for play by play mode.

I was curious what other folks who play out games thought?

If you haven't tried the webcast mode I would encourage you to.

I like to play a game with one-pitch mode and then watch the pitches in the batting screen. When a player gets a ball in play (blue pitch), I scroll through the text. In critical situations, such as when a runner is on base or a pitcher is pitching past the fifth inning, I switch to one pitch mode and get the feel and pace of a real game by playing pitch-by-pitch mode and watching each pitch.

I really like being able to play in one-pitch mode, yet still be able to see the type of pitches thrown, their speed, location and whether or not a strike was called or swung on.

There are a few things that I wish were improved in the webcast mode.
1) The one thing I miss from the broadcast screen is being able to see the player pictures as they pitch or bat. There is this excellent face gen feature, and I wish I were able to see the photos on the webcast screen. I think there must have been a lot of thought in dividing up the webcast screen and putting a lot of meaningful information there. I think that was well done. I'm not sure where I would have the photos go, maybe something which could switch between photo mode or player stats mode (e.g. "Batting LHB name" screen).

2) when a player bunts, it appears as an green (ball) or red (strike) color pitch, and in my opinion should be a blue pitch (ball in play is my way of thinking of the blue color). Or maybe a separate color other than blue could be used for the bunt.

3) I would rather have called strikes be a different color than swung at strikes. I then would be able to see some information at a glance rather than needing to read it. Currently the foul swings are orange, called strikes and swung on strikes both red. I would rather see fouled balls yellow, called strike orange, swung on strike red for example.

4) It would be nice if team colors were somehow represented near the currently batting and pitching teams or maybe the team logo could show up on the batting (LHB name) and pitching (RHP name) screens to the right of the batter. Sometimes I get dreary eyed staring at a mostly black and white screen when I'm speeding through the boring parts of a game; and I lose track of who is batting and who is pitching. This didn't happen in the broadcast screen because the player colors show up on the batter and fielders. It is obvious which team is where.

Another thing that I notice is that the game seems to jump or skip some plays. I do not remember the exact circumstances and maybe I should log these as a bug rather than suggest as improvement, but plays where a wild pitch is thrown or player steals base or successful bunt. The game seems to jump and I need to go review the game log to find out what happened.

I know this happens when a fielder or pitcher gets injured, the game just throws you into the team roster screen without getting a chance to see what happened. I think when a baserunner (or batter) gets injured, the game text appears indicating that the player was hurt, allowing game user to hit enter key before entering the team roster screen.

Overall, I think the development team did an excellent job on the Play-by-Play mode in this latest version of the game!! Thank-you very much!!!

I only play in the webcast screen. It would be nice for the team colors or logo to be in there.

You should post your comments and suggestions so the OOTPB Development team would be aware of them.

They are good comments and suggestions.

Sorry, I don't know where you could post them. I think the V9 Suggesions Forum may be closed now.

I hope battists will see them and get them to Markus.

I agree with this. I hope these improvements found their way into the upcoming OOTP9.
