Error: Could Not Download File
I downloaded OOTP8 and purchased it. So far i'm having a horrible experience. I downloaded the league file of a league I joined and successfully loaded it within the game. When I enter my password and click 'Game' on the menu and click on 'Load Online League File', it downloads the file until 96% then gives me the error
"Error: Could Not Download File" Please keep in mind I have tried this on 2 computers. Same result on both. The file is for both OOTP 8 and 7. My game version is 8.0.0.13. Windows XP. What could the problem be? Please help me out. I feel like my money went to waste. |

Try getting the most up to date league file from your commish. Wipe out the .lg folder and replace it with the newly downloaded one. (All done externally from the game)
Check to make sure there's no firewall blocking OOTP. Make sure you have enough RAM. Worst case, see if you can grab another online league's file and see if you can update. Maybe it's a server issue and not your issue.

I tried getting the file from the commish. Didn't work. There is no firefall blocking OOTP. It downloads 96% of the file, but at the end it gives me that damn message. Any other ideas?
Thanks for your help |

It sounds to me like you're using the within-game function to download you league's file, and that's not working. So Neags23 suggested that you get the league file from your Commish and manually install it. You said that didn't work. How did that not work? As long as you can obtain the league file, which you should be able to do by some means, either downloading it separately off the league website, or by having it transferred to you by the Commish somehow, there should be no barrier to your manually unzipping it into the proper place in your game folder. How did that process fail?

Sorry. I ment to say that I got the file manually off the commissioner and another owner in the league. I was able to load it correctly. But the online function still doesn't work. I can't be bothered to do it manually after every sim, no one will have that much patience to zip it and send it to me after every sim.
Any ideas what the problem could be? |
