Never happened to me and I also bought OOTP9 but it's the principal of it. Markus, if you know the fix then you should really have it in a patch for OOTP8 to be fair to your customers.

Just my opinion.
You are not alone in that opinion.

This has happened to more than just me - it happens to me every time my pitcher gets injured and I have to sub for them. So if it's due to a corrupt league file, somehow a bunch of people's league files all got the same kind of corruption - it's not just a random one-in-a-million type issue.

My league is also a historical league that I started in 1970. Maybe there's something weird so that it affects only historical leagues and not fictional leagues?

Okay, but the bug here isn't "the game crashes every time my pitcher gets hurt", it's "if the pitcher gets hurt on the last pitch of the game, the game won't let me continue". I don't see many other people expressing the same issue you're having. In fact, I will say straight out that I have seen pitchers hurt in games many times and not once has the game crashed on me as a result.

Sorry, but I think yours is a completely separate issue and my guess is file corruption is the cause.

Sorry, but the bug here IS "the game crashes EVERYTIME my pitcher gets hurt." Doen't matter the inning, the circumstances, or any of it. Also, can't believe my game files are corrupt as I started a new fictional league, bumped up injury levels, played out games, pitchers got hurt, and NO CRASH. Also, intentionally unplugged my computer while the new fictional league was running FIVE times to simulate power outages and STILL no crash when pitcher is injured. But, just played my original "real" game this morning, my pitcher got injured in the fourth inning, and same thing. It takes me to the substitution page like always. I can click on a players name (for example I clicked on the pitcher to see his injury thinking one workaround would be to go into commish mode after restart and edit him to be injured but it was a day-to-day injury and didn't list number of days yet). Anyway, lets me click on all sorts of buttons, but as soon as I drag a new pitcher into the pitcher slot, up comes the window stating OOTP has encountered a problem. I've even tried dragging a pitcher into the 9th batting slot, and it lets me do that, but as soon as I select P from the dropdown to make him a pitcher, it locks up.

I posted before about ways to find commonalities so that we may find and finally fix this, so will try again. It happens in my league dated 1901 but doesn't happen in the test trial league I started with a 2007 date. I also use custom stadium graphics in the old league but didn't in the new test league. The custom graphics are 1024 X 728 instead of 640 X 480, and I wonder if the others expereiencing this problem use custom graphics as well.

Again, EVERYTIME my pitcher is injured, it crashes as soon as I sub for him. This makes the game unplayable for me as I want to play out all of my games and the game says at the bottom "Play it Your Way."

As OldFatGuy said, if my league is "corrupt" and that is why I'm having the game crash every time I try to sub for an injured pitcher, then whatever corrupted my league file was very specific, and apparently that same specific corruption has happened to a number of other people experiencing the issue. So, in my humble opinion, if the crash is due to a league file corruption, whatever caused this very specific corruption would have to be considered a bug, would it not?

Syd Thrift is right - there are two separate issues here. I believe the first bug (pitcher injured at end of game, no way to sub since game is over, can't exit game) has been fixed thanks to the addition of the "LEAVE GAME" button on the bottom left of the lineup substitution screen once the game is over. I think he added that in for one of the patches. However, the second bug (pitcher injured while game in progress, subbing for pitcher causes crash to desktop) has not been fixed with the latest patch. I understand that not everyone experiences this bug - I'm happy for those who don't. But that means one of two things:

1) At some point, those people who DO experience this bug had their league file specifically corrupted to cause this crash at this very point, or...
2) There's some other common factor in our league files that is causing the issue. Maybe it only happens in leagues with certain characteristics. For example, maybe it only happens to historical leagues started before 1973 not using the DH. Who knows?

My point is that even though the bug doesn't affect everyone, it's still in there and it's still a bug, and it needs to be fixed for those people like me and OldFatGuy who like to play out all our games but have invincible pitchers as a result of this weirdness.

I've offered to send a copy of my league file to Markus or the beta testers but have heard nothing back.

Syd Thrift, since you have yet to have problems subbing for your injured pitchers, could you please tell us some details about your league setup?

OldFatGuy, I also have tried getting people who have encountered this problem to post info about their leagues so that we could try to find a commonality. I hate to start yet another thread about this issue, but maybe if we started a thread with a title: "Game crashes anytime you sub for an injured pitcher? Tell us about your league setup here!". Maybe that would elicit the constructive responses we're looking for.
