![]() I suspect there are fewer pro teams as well, thus the bump down. So the quickstart will be 60s era? I honestly (and obviously) can't say I've followed up till this point.

![]() Now, I suppose that it's not entirely out of the realm of possibility for, say, the 7th largest city in the country to play host to a AA team. I mean, really, who doesn't love puffy tacos? And I reckon an anomaly in real life should be an anomaly in pretend baseball land, too ![]() Still, one did have that brief couple of years of holding out hope for a chance to buy tickets to the San Antonio Land Marlins home opener... And speaking on behalf of the citizens of Austin from a time before I was born, we'll take the AA team. It's better than no pro team at all (and Hornsby Bend is a much shorter drive for me than, say, Round Rock)... Ok, enough outta me.

Nice to see so many RGV towns.
There's already been a lot of good suggestions, but what the heck:Alice - Tejanos Austin - Lone Stars Beeville - Bees/Pilots(home of a Naval Air Station in WWII) Brownsville - Rancheros, Matadors Corpus Christi - Admirals Eagle Pass - Aguilas Edna - As has already been noted, anything with the railroad is great Freeport - Atoms (Dow has a plant there) Harlingen - Leathernecks (there is a Marine prep school there and a replica of the Iwo Jima Mem.) Galveston - Pelicans, Roughnecks Kingsville Brahmas (Type of cattle) Laredo - Tecolates McAllen - Green Jays(as others have mentioned, the Valley is big on birding and the GJ is unique to the area), Hubs (main town in the Valley), Snowbirds Port Lavaca _ Seahawks/Gulls/Beacons/Buccaneers San Antonio - Hard to imagine anything but Missions, but I understand the issue with it. Bears is kind of a neat idea, and was at one time used by a minor league team there. Victoria - Rosebuds, Chaparrals

I have a Southern California A league that looks like this:
Costa Mesa Coasters El Monte Gauchos Fullerton Wildcats Hollywood Moguls Huntington Beach Surfers Laguna Beach Waves Lake Elsinore Demons La Mirada Mirage Long Beach Sharks Montebello Lancers Pasadena Horsemen Riverside Rivermen San Bernadino Bears Santa Ana Winds Santa Monica Barons Whittier Raiders You can use all of it, none of it, or just the cities. |

It wasn't all that humorous the first time he suggested it and certainly not the second time.

Dola,
Southern California city list Google Maps I might stretch the cities out just a little more to the south towards Oceanside and north towards Oxnard. |

At some point, I will need to get stadium names for these places. It'd be nice for some local names to be offered. |

These, AFAIK, are era appropriate:
Galveston - Moody Field (one of the great historical families on the Island). San Antonio - Ross Youngs Park (HOFer with the tragic end - not born in SA, but spent much time and died there) Victoria - Kirksey Field/Park (One of several folks responsible - in his case ten years ahead of schedule - for bringing pro baseball to Houston, right about the time of this league. He was a Hillsboro native, but it's not *too* far from either Victoria or Edna, and since Ron Gant Field would be anachronistic...) More to come, maybe. My 'net connection is pitiful this afternoon. |
