Incomplete early release vs. complete late release

What would satisfy you more:

1 - Having OOTP9 come out sooner rather than later, even if it has some bugs. They can be dealt with in a patch.

2 - Not having OOTP9 come out until it has been very thoroughly tested and no bugs have been found.

Naturally, with number 2, I'm sure we'd find little ones here or there, but the difference would be that option 1 would basically be like a public beta.

I'm just curious about this, because I feel like every year there are some people who complain that the release date is too late and others who complain that there are too many bugs when the game is released. It seems to me that there is some sort of trade-off.

Frankly, I'm enjoying OOTP 8 enough and I haven't seen enough WOW features on the OOTP 9 list to make me all rabid to get the new version. I'd rather see it relatively complete and mostly non-buggy.

I don't think this poll will change Markus mind about when to release it.

Only he will decide.

Every new release is buggy, so what's the difference?

Is it really too much to ask for a game that works and is released when it is supposed to be released?????

Don't we have this poll with EVERY release? It seems that way. I'm glad that we won't have to micromanage our scouts, that players can get ejected and suspended (remember, the team will have to play short while they're on suspension, and don't forget the appeal process!), and that the scouting reports are more verbose.

Since there has never been a stated release date other than "when it's ready," it's safe to say that it's going to be released exactly when it's supposed to be.

I feel kind of bad now that I voted for the early/buggy thing. I think I'd prefer an earlier release under 2 conditions...
1) That there weren't any bugs involving player development, or anything that would require a league restart to fix...
2) That the bugs would be fixed eventually too.

2 big if's, of course. I'm rather impatient and excited though.

Pointless thread. No matter when it is released, there will be bugs.

Also, no matter when it's released, it will be fun.

In absolutes, Option #1 is the only one that can please everybody. If you don't want to play until it's been patched (and is therefore "ready"), it's your prerogative.

However, some people will bitch if the developers claim that Option #1 is supposed to be perfect.

Why do we have these polls each time a new version is coming out? Jeez, this gets old.

unfair to all of the previous releases of ootp that you've decided to omit choice #3 "Late AND Buggy". it's been the formula from the get go and frankly it seems to work!

I would much prefer option 2, but no matter how long its worked on, there will be bugs when its released.
I have not been complaining about the release date, and I have preordered. I will say that all the arguments stating that we should wait so it can be released with no bugs are unrealistic.
The only real comment I have about the release of a baseball game is that it really should be in April, any later and I start to lose the excitement I feel at the start of the season.

That stopped happening in computer gaming back in the nineties.

The earlier it is released, the more bugs the masses will find and the sooner Markus can fix them. But of course the more bugs it is released with the less likely it is to get good press.

It could be released next spring training for all I care though as I haven't pre-ordered yet. Maybe if there was something more in the feature list I'd be more chomping at the bit.
