6.12 -> 8 Conversion Issues
I just converted a 6.12 league to 8, and noticed two things:
1) The 40-man rosters are screwed up. Several players who should be on it are not, and vice versa. This could be my fault for not disabling player movement when I converted, but shouldn't the players removed from the 40 have had to clear waivers? More importantly, how do I fix this? When I go into the Editor, I don't see an option for changing a player's 40-man status. Is my only choice to take control of all teams and waive players as necessary? 2) I added a Japanese League, but am having second thoughts, because the free agent pool now contains several superstar-level players, and another large group of under-25 5-star prospects. My major league is a small one, and this would distort the talent level quite a bit. Am I too worried about this? Would most of the Japanese players sign with teams in the Japanese League anyway? And is this a one-time problem that I could solve by deleting some or all of these particular players, or am I going to have a huge infusion of star talent every year? Thanks in advance.

1) I don't have your answer on this; I'm just suggesting that if you have not already done so, that you read section 3.4.1.5. Importing OOTP 6.12/6.5 Leagues in the manual. It talks about the problems of converting 6.12/6.5 minor leagues to 2007/8 and I suspect those comments are applicable to secondary rosters as well.
2) I'd say you have reason to be concerned. A Japanese League with Player Creation Modifiers comparable to your own small Major League will generate a disproportionate amount of stars in your free agent pool. I would say the way to get around this is to dial down the PCM's in the Japanese League and/or limit the number of foreign players allowed on rosters in your Major League. This will cut down the numbers; of course, if you want to eliminate them all together you can simply forbid free agents from leaving the Japanese League. |
