Strangest Career Ending Injury
What's the most unusual career ending injuries have you seen.
In my current league I got two weird ones. First off Floyd Bannister tore a back muscle by falling down his stairs while moving into his new house. The next day the Twins lost Win Remmerswaal due to a fractured elbow which happened while throwing a frisbee to his dog... Maybe it wouldn't have been so bad if both reports didn't start off with a cheery "Wacky things do happen in baseball and one just did to..." CEI shouldn't have such cheery, non-nonchalant reports.. |

interesting. ive never seen a CEI on an off-field injury. then again, they are fairly indeterminate. if you look at the text file, the boolean for length is "light injury" (0 = doesn't matter, 1 = yes). there are no booleans for season or career ending injuries, nor length. i may just have to go through my file and add light injuries for most of these. cause at some point, someone is gonna end his career getting beat up by his girlfriend

I think my favorite one of all time was the one where players would be injured because they were "'Hit' by a coyote". The mental image there makes me laugh every time, so I always try to add that one back.

The interesting thing was the reports didn't say they were CEIs, both said out for 16 to 17 months. But I noticed that the players were released (since they were in a generic uniform instead of a Yankees or Twins uniform) so I opened their profiles and saw that injury length was Career over. CEI for falling down the stairs I can believe although fairly unlikely. But CEI from throwing a frisbee seems a bit much. |

Zack Stott
Reading Phillies starting pitcher Zack Stott suffered a fractured skull falling off the back of a pick-up truck. I always wondered what the hell he was doing to get an injury like that.
