Yup, cool, I'm gonna convert on the first day of the playoffs. Thanks!

...and it's nice to hear I'm not the only one who has this question. I tried a variety of searches on the forums but I couldn't find any other definitive answers.

I am a beta. Those are the best times if you want continuity, and I explained why.

I'll add further that if you do it after the playoffs, then you get the better AI FA stuff. If you wait until preseason, you miss all that and are relying on ootp8, which is inferior.

If you go before the playoffs, as I mentioned - and I think this will be by far the best unless you are in the playoffs and don't want to fart around - before the playoffs utilizes ootp9's better AI transaction code for contract negotiations.

It's either/or. Or do it immediately when you get the game as Markus says. Perhaps you'll run around trying to figure out what the hell has changed and not like that. No big deal. You just go back and finish it out in ootp8 and then convert whenever you want.

There are many ways to please everyone.

And just as many ways for people to get upset.

Thanks for the summary! One more question / fine detail. I think right now I am on the first day of the playoffs, but no games have been played yet. If I convert now, will I get the "better AI transaction code for contract negotiations"? I'm gonna do it this way anyway, but I'm just curious if you know for sure.

I've been thinking about this and I think I am going to convert on opening day. There is just something about starting a new version of OOTP with a new season. I sim week by week, so, I'll be able to feel the full effects of the game soon enough.

In the past, I'd suggest waiting. But this year? I'd recommend getting in there opening day.
